KATHMANDU: Shiva Paudel, the injured Chitwan District chairman of the Nepali Congress (NC)-affiliated Tarun Dal, breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Neuro Hospital in the Capital on early Saturday morning.
Paudel, who was undergoing treatment at College of Medical Science Teaching Hospital in Bharatpur was sent to Kathmandu on December 14 for further treatment. He succumbed to his injuries at around 3:00 am this morning, Nepal Tarun Dal informed. The hospital is to officially declare his demise at 9:00 am today.
A group of inmates affiliated to CPN-UML’s Youth Association Nepal had attacked Poudel and others in Chitwan District Prison on December 6. He was critically injured in the incident.
Paudel was on custodial remand on the charge of murder of YAN leader, Sanjay Lama.
Following the incident, nineteen people of the group attacking Paudel have been transferred to Central Jail from the District Jail.
Officiating CDO of Chitwan, police chief, jail police In-charge and jailer were suspended for failing to give security even inside the jail.
The government had formed a four-member committee to probe into the case.
