Prez Yadav holds joint discussion with political leaders

KATHMANDU, AUG 05 - President Ram Baran Yadav held joint meeting on ending the current political impasse with the leaders of political parties on Sunday. The president summoned joint discussion today to find a way out of the two-month quagmire that the country sunk into after Constituent Assembly's dissolution on May 27. Emerging from the meeting, Bijay Kumar Gachhadar said there was no alternative to fresh mandate. "Election is held in every five years in a democratic country, it has already been five years since the CA election was held," Gachhadar said. Likewise, Sher Bahadur Deuba said during the meeting, the Nepali Congress urged the president to take some steps to save the country from plunging into another crisis. Senior leaders of the political parties including Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai marked their presence at the meeting held at Shital Niwas in the Capital. “The President invited 27 parties for discussion on ending the present deadlock,” said President’s Press Advisor Rajendra Dahal. However, the newly formed CPN-Maoist led by Mohan Baidya was not invited to Sunday’s discussion. The meeting has been summoned in the wake of the Election Commission’s formal announcement of its inability to hold fresh CA elections announced for November
